More Odds and Ends

Some things that have been sitting in my in box that need passed along ...

1. The Department of Exercise, Sport and Leisure Studies at the University of Tennessee is looking for an Assistant/Associate Professor in Sport Management (tenure track). You can find more information here, including deadlines and requirements.

2. The University of Nebraska Press, which publishes the Journal of Sports Media, has enhanced its journal website. You can now browse and purchase back issues online. If you go to the journal's home page and click on one of the subscription drop-down boxes, you'll see "single issue" as an option. Selecting that option brings up a "browse single issues link, and by clicking on the link you'll get a list of available issues, and in most cases, tables of contents for those issues.

3. There is a call for contributors for a book coming out entitled Game Women, Sport and its Female Fans by Kim Toffoletti and Peter Mewett, eds. According to the call, "We invite chapter proposals for an edited book on women fans of sports. The book seeks to explore why women follow sports and the significance of their contribution. We are interested in what female fandom can tell us about gender relations in sport and the changing nature of sport spectatorship." Please submit abstracts of 200-250 words and a brief author bio by 5 August 2009 to either or both editors (and direct any queries to the editors) at:

kim.toffoletti@deakin.edu.au or
peter.mewett@deakin.edu.au

4. Finally, a reminder that the blog for the new Sports Division of BEA is now up and running. The blog takes the place of the newsletter, so check it out for the latest on news and upcoming deadlines.
