With the talk of growing sport scholarship and what's going on around the country, we don't want to neglect the work of the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport. NASSS has been around more than 30 years and has an upcoming conference in Ottawa (although it's too late to submit for the November 2009 conference you can still register to attend).

NASSS is truly an international organization (which we need more of). If you're interested you can check out their website or newsletter. There are several contributors to JSM who also work with NASSS, including Richard King of Washington State, who is on the NASSS Executive Board. Thanks to Marie Hardin at Penn State for reminding me of the work this group is doing in sport scholarship.
